At Mareeba State School we know that our attendance target has always been 95% and we talk about how every day counts.

Now we want to ensure our families are aware of what supports are in place for your children to reach this target, and how to access these supports if you or your child are struggling to make it into the school grounds.

It starts in the classroom with each class having their own attendance targets and trackers.

Our next step is for our HUB Team and FLO to assist the classroom teacher with a range of strategies and plans. We can trial different options like; Pause breaks in the HUB and support with transition back to the classroom until we find what works for your child.

Unfortunately, we cannot assist with transport however, if you can make it to our school gates our FLO (Miss Tracy) can come to you and assist with the next step.

Our MSS Hub is a space for students to come and regulate and re set until they feel ready to learn.

Keep an eye out for our upcoming Hub Virtual Tour

Did you know that if your child is absent for 10 school days or more you will be asked to fill out a request for exemption that needs to be approved by our Principal??

If you are planning a trip away or may have a planned medical procedure please contact the front office and advise our staff so we can assist with the exemption forms required. We understand that everyone has days when they may be sick and we apricate your commitment to stopping the spread of illnesses within our school.  It is vital that when your children are sick that you please contact the front office either via phone, e-mail or SMS if we know that your child is unwell we can mark their role accordingly.

Thank you for your commitment to attendance, learning, engaging and every student succeeding @ MSS.

Nyree Burton and Tracy Marcel
