Term 2, 2023 has marked another busy term for sports at Mareeba State School.  Quite a number of our students have represented our school proudly at Tablelands 10-19 years school sports trials including Soccer, Rugby League, Netball, Golf, Cricket and Cross Country, to mention a few.  Special congratulations to Sienna Grace O'Brien (golf) and Rhys Malfitana (soccer) who were selected to represent our Peninsula School Sport Region at Queensland State School Titles this year.

Finally, it was fantastic to see so many students proudly wearing their house colours and cheering on their team and fellow peers.  It was also great to see parents and families supporting students in hefty numbers.  There were many standout performances, however the age champions this year were:

  • 9 years – Ciarra Iacutone & Elexis Tokarahi (dual winners) & Malique Mudd
  • 10 years – Callum Sielaff & Claire Whitehall
  • 11 years – Rhys Malfitana & Ryker Rowe (dual winners) & Brooke Carey
  • 12 years – Jeffrey Walsh & Leann Baru

Mitchell was the overall winning house from the carnival on 412 participation points and 603 overall points, with Barron finishing second on 331 participation and 454 overall points, and Granite in third with 306 participation and 425 overall points.  The HPE team are looking forward to cheering on our students at the Tablelands District Track and Field Carnival next term.

Yours in Sport,
HPE Team
