Term 3 has been filled with lots of exciting activities and there are many more to come.

Thank you to everyone who participated in our Book Week activities.  It was  wonderful to see so many classes watching the short-listed books being read to them by a member of the Mareeba State School administration team each day.  It was also amazing to see so many students and teachers dressed in costumes around the theme of 'Old Worlds, New Worlds, Other Worlds' for our dress-up parade last Friday.

Under 8s Day will be held in week 10 of this term - Thursday, September 16th from 9 - 11am under the Prep building (Z Block).  All members of the Mareeba community who are under 8 years of age are invited to attend.  The theme for 2021 is 'Children Celebrating Outdoor Play & Learning'.  Covid safe measures will be followed including a QR code to check in on arrival.

The Reading Cafe for Term 3 will finish this Thursday, September 2nd (week 8).  Please encourage your child to come along to the library on Tuesday and Thursday mornings between 8:30 - 8:50am to practice their reading.  Remember - every visit earns a cup of milo and every 10th visit (5th for Preps) earns a cupcake.

Parent/Teacher/Student interviews will be conducted after school on Monday, September 13th and Tuesday, September 14th.  Teachers have sent home interview sheets for their classes that contain detailed information.  This term sees phone interviews offered as an alternative to a face-to-face interview at school.  Parent/teacher/student interviews are a wonderful opportunity for teachers, parents and students to talk together about how students are progressing at school and what they can do to improve their learning.

Teachers and students will be spending the next couple of weeks finalising assessment tasks and completing activities in preparation for these interviews.  It is important for students to attend school every day so an accurate picture of their progress can be communicated.
