In August 2022, we had our Fancy Dress Ball – it was a very successful event. We would sincerely like to thank everyone for volunteering and helping out.

Tuckshop

Friday 4th of November is Tuckshop Day. It is a day to recognise and give a special thank you to all tuckshop workers and volunteers. It also highlights the important role tuckshops play in school life. Providing nutritious food and drinks means families can have one less task to worry about at the start of their day and helps students to concentrate and learn well in class.

As you all may know, we farewelled Lisa Hastie, MSS's Tuckshop Convenor, who was with MSS for the last 12 years and we said a big hello to our new Tuckshop Convenor, Lana Perkes – who has seamlessly slotted right into the very important position. She has been working hard to continue the great service and great food to the school and its students. If you haven't yet met Lana, pop your head into the Tuckshop to say hello.

Uniform Shop

With 2023 just around the corner, a reminder to those needing to purchase uniforms, the Uniform Shop's opening hours are:

·         Mon – 8:15am to 9:00am

·         Tues – 8:15am to 9:00am

·         Wed – 2:45pm to 3:15pm

·         Thurs – 8:15am to 9:00am

·         Fri – 8:15am to 9:00am

We are seeking volunteers to assist for an hour on Wednesday, 18th, Thursday, 19th and Friday 20th January 2023 – which will be a busy time for purchasing of uniforms for back to school. If you can spare an hour or so on any one of these days, please contact the P&C Committee.

What has MSS P&C been up to?

The MSS P&C have been keeping busy. In the past few months we are proud to have assisted MSS with:

  • the design and purchase of new Sports shirts for the students
  • donation towards a Year 5 class to attend Kuranda Scenic Railway
  • donation towards a MSS student's trip to Peninsula Sports – Track and Field
  • donation of food for MSS's Under 8's day
  • funded three teams from MSS to compete at the 2022 FNQ School Futsal Titles
  • in the process of purchasing a chilled and filtered water station for the students with funds raised from the Fancy Dress Ball

Are you interested in assisting the P&C in 2023?

We always need volunteers for events throughout the year, so if you can spare a few hours to help with events or assist with preparations, please contact the P&C Committee mareebasspandc@gmail.com.

Final General Meeting for 2022

The final General Meeting for 2022 is this month, so we would love to see you there. Being a part of the P&C is a great way to be involved with the school and have your say on issues.  Helping the P&C is helping the school and students. Remember, only registered members have the right to vote on issues raised at meetings. If this is something that may interest you, please come along to our next P&C meeting which will be held at 5:00pm on Wednesday, 16 November 2022 at the MSS Staffroom.
